Need to Remove Wax From Carpet?

Every candle lover from time to time runs into the problem where you need to remove wax from carpet – and getting rid of it can seem pretty difficult. (Don’t worry, we’ve got a great trick for you to try!) Maybe a candle you’ve had burning has accidentally dripped down and now you notice a puddle of hardened wax there that is stuck to the fibers of your carpet and rug. Maybe you have kids and they left a box of crayons which somehow melted (Don’t ask me how this is possible, but I’ve been in that situation before – kids are professionals when it comes to knowing how to make a mess by accident!)

The good news in most cases you can safely and easily remove it without a whole lot of hassle. The easiest types of wax to remove safely are the ones that do not have dyes or colors added to them, since these typically will not leave stains on the floor. However, since most avid candle lovers typically do use candles which use dyes and colors then you do end up more often than not having wax that may leave a mark even after you’ve removed it.

Here is what you will need:

Brown Paper Bag or Butcher Paper
Iron

The first thing you will want to do is to lay the brown paper bag on top of the spilled wax you want to remove. Next, heat your iron to a low setting (lower is better – too high of a heat may cause more problems plus you risk burning your carpeting!) and then carefully iron the paper bag. Do not leave the iron on in anyone spot for too long since you are applying heat to paper and it can burn!

Once the wax has slightly melted, pick up the piece of paper and be amazed that it has attached itself to the paper and is no longer attached to the floor!

If you do happen to notice that some of the dye may have left a mark, you can then use your regular carpet stain remover to get rid of whatever may be left.

Note: Irons are hot and can be dangerous to use. Only an adult should use an iron – it’s much better to have mom and Dad be upset you spilled wax which they can easily remove than to find out your burnt yourself or the rug! Always follow the safety instructions included with your iron to prevent injury or property damage.

Now that you know this simple trick on how to remove wax from carpet you’ll be able to burn your candles without worrying about spilled wax not being able to come out of the rug! Burn Safely!
