If you want to learn how to make homemade candles, then you need these candle making secrets.

One of the questions I’m asked very often is “How Do You make Homemade Candles”? Many people are always interested to learn how I do it, and they are often quite pleasantly surprised to learn that it’s actually not that difficult at all once you know the right materials and techniques to make great candles each and every time.

Homemade candles have many different benefits. Not only can you get the scents you want and make them of higher quality than the kinds you buy at stores, but it can also save you a lot of money, since the cost of supplies and materials will often pay for itself in no time.

It is really helpful to start with a guide that will show you step by step what to do and teach you all of the tips and tricks. While I’ll try my best to explain everything here, it’s just not possible to put it all on a single web page. If you want to learn how to do it right, my favorite resource on the subject is the ebook The Secrets to Successful Candle Making, which will teach you everything from important safety tips about wax and wicks to choosing your materials – not to mention over 300 candle fragrance recipes. I think it’s seriously one of the best resources you can find online to make candles – and as a nice bonus, you can even learn how to turn your candle making hobby into cash – that’s ALWAYS nice! Click Here for Candle Making Secrets

If you want to learn how to make candles, you’ll need to decide what type you will make. I personally like to make soy candles, because soy wax is affordable and it also burns pretty cleanly – I go through a lot of candles and don’t like soot marks on the wall! But there are also beeswax candles, parrafin candles, and even gel candles. Learning to make them all will give you more and more experience with it.

Candle making usually goes like this:

1. Melt the Wax
2. Add Fragrance/Dyes
3. Pour into mold
4. Insert Wick
5. Allow to Cool

It seems really simple, right? And it is really that simple. But I’m sure you have questions. What type of wax should I use for homemade candles? Does it matter what kind of wick I use? Where can I get some really great candle molds? How do I know what dyes and fragrances to use? Is it possible to use too much dye or fragrance?

The answers to all of these questions really depend on you and what you like. And if you want to learn it all, and have 300 great proven formulas to start out with, as well as everything you need to know, then you need Candle Making Secrets. The book is a great price, comes with a 100% money back guarantee (though I don’t think I’ve heard of anyone unsatisfied yet) – and it will definitely save you a lot of money and a lot of time. There’s nothing worse than spending the money on all of the supplies and equipment only to find you have to trash the candles because they won’t set properly or they smell horrible when you burn them! Whether you’re just curious in getting into this hobby or you’ve been doing it for awhile, it’s a book that’s sure to get you set on the right path.

It can be really tough trying decide how to run a successful candle making business, especially if you have never started your own business before. The first thing you need to do is to ask yourself some questions, as well as create a business plan. While it might not seem really all that important or necessary, it can really help you think the whole thing out.

If you really want to know the secrets to running a successful business and marketing candles, you should really give the ebook Secrets to Successful Candle Making a read…it’s so straight forward and tells you everything you need to go to hit the ground running making candles and selling them for a profit. Best of all, it’s an ebook, so no waiting for shipping – you’ll be able to read it right away! Sarah does an awesome job of making it easy to know how to market your business the right way, whether you decide to sell online through sites like eBay or go to craft fairs.

But, if you don’t want the book for some great ideas and pointers (Did I mention it also comes with 300 candle recipes? Haha, I’m sorry, it’s just such a good guide for anybody who makes candles!) then the best place to start off is with a good business plan.

Here are some things you’ll want to consider when starting your own business for making candles:

How Much Time Can You Spend on the Business?
The more time you put into the business, the more you will likely see results. I know some people who work at little as 12 hours a week and do well – but imagine if they worked 20 or 30 hours? You have to make the most of your time, and the more time you can put into it, the more candles and sales you will make.

What Will Your Start Up Costs Be?
A lot of people are worried about having to make an investment to start a business. Honestly, I think a $37 ebook with everything you need to know is worth the investment (you can also write it off on your taxes depending on where you live), because in the end it will save you money. Generally, you will need enough supplies to make at least 20-30 candles to sell, possibly more if you plan on selling them at craft fairs and shows. But if you don’t have the start up money, then you can just make a few candles and then try to get pre-orders, where people pay you first and then you buy the materials and deliver the product.

How Much Profit Will You Make?
Let’s be realistic, even if you’d make candles for free, you still need to think about profit in order to turn it into a successful business. A good rule of thumb is to price your products competitively, but I also know people who do well charging more than what everyone else charges because they give a greater perceived value. People will pay more if they think the product is better than everything else. Trust me, people are fed up with candles that don’t deliver or smell awesome or burn out too quickly – if you can give them an awesome candle then you’re all set.

How Will You Market Your Candles?
If you can market your product, you will succeed. This is the key to success, so you need to know how to let people know about your business. Having a story to tell them is great – they’re much more likely to buy from you knowing that you hand dip your own or how you learned how to make them after so many mistakes and now have the perfect candle.

Getting onto the online market may seem daunting at first, but it’s actually quite easy. Many people can set up free websites at numerous different places to talk about their candles, and you can also turn to giant online superstores like eBay to sell them, too.

Other people I know really like to go to craft fairs and trade shows with their candles. They love the people, they love talking to others, and they are really good at convincing people to take orders.

What other marketing avenues exist out there? Could you try perhaps selling them as a fundraiser product? Set up a shop? There are thousands of great ways to promote yourself, and when you have a good list of what you will do and then you actually implement that strategy, the results are usually exactly what you wanted to achieve.

Learning how to run a successful candle making business doesn’t have to like hitting your head against the wall a zillion times. If you’d like, pick up Secrets to Successful Candle Making ebook and check it out – you will be on your way in no time!

Finding soy wax in bulk wholesale at discount prices is vital if you are a serious candle maker. Here's a few great resources to find the best deal around.

Finding wholesale soy wax in bulk is a great way to save money if you are serious about making soy candles or starting your own candle business.

While you can often find decent prices on soy wax as a part time hobbyist at most craft stores, this can get expensive if you want to make a lot of candles. After all, when you buy something in the store, you are paying the retail price, meaning you are paying a lot more than necessary so the retailer and the distributor makes money.

When you buy wholesale, you skip the “middleman” of the retailer, and sometimes even the distributor, because you are buying it directly. You usually need to buy bulk soy wax quantities this way, but if you are making a large inventory of different products, this is what you would need anyway. Spending less on wax and other candle making supplies means more profits for you! (It’s also a good idea to check out finding discount fragrances for candles, since that can also sometimes be a costly expense when you are making a large quantity!)

For some wholesale distributors, you may need a tax ID. This can be somewhat of an obstacle, but usually requires only you filing the appropriate paperwork in order to obtain one. (See your state’s small business administration for more information on this). If you prefer to skip the business tax ID, then you can instead opt to buy it from the different sources available that don’t require one.

Buying it online is obviously the most easiest option, since there may or may not be very many distributors around where you live in the same location.

Another place to find some incredible deals is online at eBay, some of these are less than $1 per pound! When you consider the craft stores I shop at charge $3 a pound or more, this is a great deal! I personally prefer flakes because it seems to me to be a lot easier to work with, but you can also find bulk soy wax blocks if you click on any of the things below and search exactly for what you are looking for.

Make sure you bookmark this page and come back to visit often – it will always be updated live with all of the latest listings of bulk, wholesale, and discount prices for soy wax.

If you are an experienced candle maker, are you ready to take your candle making hobby to the next level? Whether you want over 300 recipes for delicious smelling candle scents or are interested in turning your hobby into a business, you’ve got to read Secrets to Successful Candle Making.

Can you make money selling candles? Yes - when you learn the right techniques to follow! You really can make a living doing what you love - and I'll tell you why and how.

Can you really make money by making and selling candles? This is a question many people always ask, because it seems too good to be true, especially if you love making things and the fragrances of candles. Starting your own candle business is exciting – and it can be wildly successful.

The answer to the question is of course yes – but if you really want to make money selling candles, then it pays to learn how to do it the right way so you don’t get frustrated and give up too soon.

If you want to run your own candle making business, then I recommend the book Secrets to Successful Candle Making. It’s an ebook that is only available online, but it has everything you could possibly need to know about making candles and selling them. Not to mention, it comes with a 60 day 100% money back guarantee, so if you don’t learn something new, useful, or implement it and make no money, you can get your money back. Since you download it instantly, you can get started right away – and there’s no shipping fees or restocking fee if you decide to return it.

It’s not unusual to be afraid of starting your own business, I know I was terrified when I decided to work from home and be my own boss. And with so many options out there, it can be really tricky to decide what to do that you will really truly enjoy for the long haul – and make enough money that you can be satisfied. But, that fear quickly goes away once you start making money and having time to do the things you love.

If you want to make money selling your own candles, you’re going to need to have a few things:

Motivation: You’re your own boss – so no one is going to be breathing down your neck to get to work. Most people I know who make money doing this don’t need much motivation because they LOVE what they are doing. If you love making candles, then you probably have the right motivation.

Basic Computer Skills: Selling your candles online is the easiest, cheapest, and most successful way to earn more. You don’t need to be a specialty programmer or anything of the sorts – but you do need to at least be able to use the internet, upload pictures, and write a description about what you are selling.

Patience & Knowledge: You’re not going to make a million dollars overnight. It just doesn’t happen that way. But you will begin to earn money from candles within a few months, especially if you Buy a book that tells you exactly what to do. You can waste a lot of money if you’re not careful – but for $37 you can save a ton – and start seeing results much sooner.

I LOVE my job as a work at home mom. I’m here with my kids when they need me, and I get to do what I like to do best. And the extra money is amazing – I’ve replaced the same income I had from my lousy 8-5 “day job” that just drained everything out of me. I’m not a millionaire – but that’s not what I’m striving toward. Right now I want to be here for my kids and not have to worry about daycare or being too tired to cook dinner or doing a job that I hate that makes me feel like a robot.

There’s tons of ways to make money with candles, and I think making them yourself is the way to go. While there are companies that will pay you to sell their stuff, I tend to be skeptical of them. For starters, your own candles can be much better as far as scents and quality go – mass produced ones from stores and catalogs are usually of very low quality. Even popular name brands aren’t usually as good as the homemade types. I don’t really advocate businesses where you sell someone else’s candles, because they’re the ones who make all the profit – not you. They con you into buying a ton of stuff, pawning your goods onto family and friends, and the candles aren’t even that great of quality. Meanwhile, when you make your own, you keep ALL the profits – and you don’t have to beg people to buy them, because they’re of such high quality and because you can offer a better price – THEY COME TO YOU. Couple that with the internet, and you’ve got an easy business to run!

People always start thinking about stuff like taxes, business names, etc. etc. – these are easy to deal with and are just a poor excuse for not doing what you really want to do with your life. In my state it took about 20 minutes to register my business name. Taxes are a breeze – I simply track how much I make and how much I spend all year long, then input that info into TurboTax at the end of each year. If it makes you that nervous, you can always hire an accountant. States and countries vary as to what you’ll need to do, but if your state has a small business website (most of them do) then it will walk you through everything step by step. Trust me, it’s worth it – to not have a “real” job is the best thing in the world!

When you follow someone else’s steps and guidance, it’s a lot easier to hit the ground running also. Candle making is somewhat of an art – and getting the right scents, colors, and shapes can sometimes be difficult. A lot of people don’t want to make a $37 investment to learn all the tips and tricks – but this can easily pay for itself because you will have less mistakes, which means no buying products only to have to end up throwing them in the garbage. Knowledge always pays for itself! The 300 recipes in the book above is super powerful information to help you get started with proven and successful formulas – which means no wasting money.

You really can make money selling candles – all you need is the right information on how to do it.

So, now that you’ve seen some of these, let’s talk about the pros and the cons of using this type as opposed to the others available.

For starters, a silicone mold is very versatile – you can also use it for making soaps and tarts. Probably the biggest pro however is how easily the candles can be released. From my experience, some molds can be really hard to use, but the results with silicone ones tend to be nice and clean after the wax hardens and cools. The stretchiness of the material makes it so much easier for the release process. They also come in so many different shapes and sizes, so the variety is great, especially if you are making candles for a profit.

So what are the cons of silicone candle making supplies? Well, for starters they can be more expensive sometimes depending on where you get your candle making supplies. I listed ebay above because it is one of my favorites due to the variety and usually low prices – not to mention I can also find many more than what I would at my local craft store. Many can be bid on for less than a couple of dollars, making it much more affordable. The ones online can be new or used, which can help you get even save more money, since used ones typically cost much less and are still just as good. I’ve found though sometimes the extra cost is worth it – especially if otherwise you would be buying and using a releasing agent – that can more than pay for itself over time!

While some people still prefer the traditional aluminum candle shapes and molding supplies, silicone candle molds are quickly becoming a favorite!

Learn how to make your own candle molds using household items, sand, and other things for unique shapes and styles.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make candle molds, there are many different options you can consider to make your own designs and shapes. Almost anything can be used as a home made candle mold, as long as the candle wax can be removed easily after you allow for the wax to cool and harden.

Here are some ideas to help you make your own homemade candle molds, out of items you may have around the house or can easily get at most stores and craft or hobby shops.

Cardboard Carton: Whether it be a cereal box, a milk or orange juice carton, or other cardboard container, all of these things can be used as a great candle mold. It’s inexpensive and usually quite convenient. Simply pour the wax into the container and after waiting for the wax to completely cool and harden, unwrap the cardboard around it.

Use Sand: This can be a fun and unique way to make candles easily out of something you may have at home already. Simply fill a tub with wet sand and then create indentations to make the shape you want the candle to have. You don’t want the sand to be dripping, but wet enough that you can shape it easily. Using other things you have around the house can help you make perfect circles, stars, or other shapes. Then pour the candle and allow the wax to harden and cool. Then all you need to do is dig your candle out.

Cookie Cutters: If you have metal cookie cutters, they can be another thing to use for a candle mold. It will depend on the shape and size, but they typically can work.

Muffin Tin: A muffin pan tin works great for small candles or scented tarts. All you need to do is clean it, then pour the wax into it. A trick for getting the wax to come out is to place the pan in the freezer for 30 minutes to an hour and the wax will “shrink” making it easier for them to slide out.

Hope you enjoy these easy things to do and use for making your own candle molds, and of course, you can always learn more about using candle molds to learn more tricks and tips.
